Features 10 of the Rarest Star Wars Collectibles of All Time May 4, 2024481 views0 By BrawlySilver Share Share 10 rare Star Wars collectibles that cost more than the average mortgage payment (or house!) There are all sorts of rare, vintage toys from the original Star Wars films you can find going for a fortune, after all there are only a handful of these still floating about! Today we’ll be a taking a look at 10 of the rarest Star Wars collectibles of all time, some of which you can still buy today! Obviously, if you really wanted to, you could seek out the real props and costumes. But you’ll be looking at spending hundreds of thousands of dollars — we’re not kidding, Luke Skywalker‘s original lightsaber from A New Hope sold for $450,000! 10) Star Wars #1 (1977) Star Wars 1977 Comic #1 The first Star Wars comic book was always going to be a hard one to find. It follows the beginning of the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. This one is a challenge to pin down, as they are understandably pretty rare now! The prices do vary, but you can still find copies ranging from £1,400 - £4,000 (approx. $1,945 - $5,500) 9) Topps Chrome Perspectives Signed Darth Vader Card Chrome Perspectives Darth Vader CardSource The Topps Chrome Perspectives cards have been a hit amongst collectors and those looking to trade. But you can still buy this 2015 gold variant of Darth Vader signed by the late Dave Prowse himself, who physically played Darth Vader. Currently, the card is listed for $1,199 on eBay. 8) R2-D2 Vinyl Lunch Kit Source This one is a rare find, as it was never actually mass produced. Reportedly, only 6 were made as prototypes, and only a few were given out to retailers as promotions. There’s a listing for one on eBay right now for a casual $15,000. 7) LEGO Bronze C-3PO Minifigure LEGO Bronze C-3PO For something truly rare, you could be extremely lucky to get your hands on the LEGO Bronze C-3PO. Why is it so rare? There is only one bronze C-3PO! Reports say that it was actually the prize for a contest at Comic Con. Since there is only 1 in existence, there’s no telling how much collectors might be willing to pay. 6) Star Wars Early Bird Certificate Package Pre-preorder We first talked about this in our Designer Toys 101 article. Kenner‘s Early Bird Certificates were their way of ensuring sales in the face of unexpected demand for their toys. An Early Bird Certificate guaranteed holders a set of Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, and R2-D2 once they were produced the following season. The certificates themselves can fetch a reported $9,000 and up. Also check out this vintage Early Bird Certificate commercial on YouTube. 5) Double-telescoping Darth Vader Source Double-telescoping Darth Vader is a very rare action figure that holds his iconic red lightsaber. The catch with this particular variant is that the lightsaber extends in two parts from a cavity in his arm. These were among the first Darth Vaders Kenner produced before scrapping the design, but not before a small number made it into production. In 2018, a mint edition carded copy auctioned for a measly $64,900. 4) T-65 X-Wing Starfighter 1 oz gold coin Source There is no symbol of the Rebels quite like their ships, notably their X Wings! There are only 50 of these coins in the world, and you can still grab yourself one. Albeit, these don’t go cheap, the one available is selling for an eye-watering 4,750€! 3) Boba Fett With Rocket Launcher Kenner Boba Fett With Rocket Launcher One of the grail of all Star Wars grails is Kenner‘s rocket-firing Boba Fett from 1978. You could simply press a button to launch the rocket, but understandably, the manufacturers found that this wasn’t such a good idea. The toy never met production, but a few prototypes did make it out. However, anyone who managed to hang onto their version may be in luck, this Boba Fett has been known to go for over $200,000. 2) TIE Fighter miniature film prop TIE Fighter Miniature Original The formidable TIE Fighters have become a force to be reckoned with, and since their debut in Episode IV, they mark some of the most memorable scenes in the franchise! However, you might not expect someone to spend over $275,000 on one! To be precise, they bought the actual TIE Fighter film prop that met its match when it collided with Darth Vader! 1. R2-D2 film prop Source The #1 spot on our list goes to the unflappable R2-D2 unit beloved by millions. Though there were no doubt many copies created for use in the franchise, this one created from R2 parts from the original trilogy is purported to be the only screen-featured copy in the hands of the public. This 43-inch tall astromech auctioned for $2.76 million in 2017. That’s all we’ve got for now! Are you the lucky owner of any of these? Let us know, and may the force be with you! Join the Invasion!
