Four Dynamic Duos And Power Couples Of The Designer Toy Scene!

Art, Love, and Bromance.

Here at Invasion Toys we believe in collaboration, partnership, and kindred spirits, so we have compiled a list of some of the scene’s incredible dynamic duos and power couples! Here we’ll highlight, showcase, and celebrate them in all their awesome and inspiring glory.

1. Paul Budnitz & Huck Gee — Superplastic

In at numero uno is the iconic and dynamic duo, Paul Budnitz and Huck Gee! You can bet your bottom dollar that whenever these two are involved, and whatever they’re involved in, it’s pure magic.

We like to imagine a bountiful bromance between these two geniuses, the brains behind SUPERPLASTIC, “the world’s premier creator of animated synthetic celebrities, designer toys, and apparel.”

Not to mention that Budnitz has founded over a dozen companies, including Kidrobot! Which is how Huck and Paul first met. Thank god for Kidrobot, Paul’s creative know-how, and Huck’s incredible skill. What a pair!

2. Chris Ryniak & Amanda Louise Spayd — Bindlewood

Husband and wife team Chris Ryniak and Amanda louis Spayd are quite possibly a match made in heaven, wouldn’t you agree? Just look at their individual work and tell us they were not meant to team up together!?

Their artistic styles gel so cohesively and the end result is a fantastical and whimsical world full of endearing, super-cute characters! Be sure to check out Thimblestump Hollow and their combined store Bindlewood.

This is the true meaning of a power couple. Two incredible artists united as one. Check out some of their incredible work via the links below.

3. Mark Landwehr & Sven Waschk — coarse

coarse make some of the most unique and exquisite sculptures in the scene. Period.

coarse emerged in 2003, when Mark Landwehr began a series of sculptures exploring the surf and skate culture in Southern California. He then went on to collaborate with apparel brand, Vans! This helped bring coarse to the forefront of the vinyl art toy world.

In 2008, Sven Waschk joined coarse. The duo began sculpting together as a team, creating narrative-driven sculptures that tell stories about sexual identity, fear of time passing, and relationships falling apart.

4. Kristy Kitsune & Hausriot — Fluffriot

These two are the Power Couple creators of the Kawaii Punk, rebel-endorsing, apparel-making, designer-toy-creating, ass-kicking Fluff Riot! This duo’s work just radiates an energy that, yet again, seems like it was always meant to be together.

Kristy Kitsune is a wildly talented sculptor, painter, and art toy designer, and her other-half, Taylor Bowen, is the creator of Hausriot Studios! He is an extremely talented animator and multimedia artist, and the very first official Invasion Toys NFT artist. More on that here.

These guys make beautiful art, together and apart. A true power couple (or partners in crime) in the scene that is definitely worth celebrating! Check out some of their incredible work via the links below.
