‘Blurred Lines Khali Show’ Starts Tomorrow, In Person and Online! By Fluff Riot x Strangecat Toys

Fluff Riot and friends rev up the cuteness with the Blurred Lines Khali Show!

Fluff Riot‘s Blurred Lines Khali Show is coming to the Strangecat Toys Gallery! The show is centered around Fluff Riot’s iconic Khali character, who marked her first appearance in 2019. The show will feature over 15 familiar and renowned toy artists, and we cannot wait to see how their customs go down with Khali fans!

Fluff Riot was kind enough to tell us the inspiration behind the upcoming Khali show:

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Back before I had even sculpted my first piece I loved the idea of making something that other artists would enjoy painting and putting their spin on. I’m a huge advocate of collaboration, not competition, between artists, so having a collaborative show like this is a great way to further that concept.

The concept of the show is also something I’d been thinking about for a few years. I love subculture art, I find it to be much more relevant because of the fact that subculture art is not meant exclusively for the wealthy as it is far more accessible.

With that, let’s take a look at the incredible customs! It’s really interesting to see fellow artists’ takes on the Khali with their own styles when we are so accustomed to the punky pastel that is Fluff Riot!

A few Blurred Lines Khali Customs

1. MP Gautheron

MP Gautheron‘s custom sticks with her signature glassy-eyed design for a touch of realism. The patterns and designs on the piece are complex, colorful, and have a touch of a mosaic look to them. You can tell that MP Gautheron has truly put her own spin and art style onto the Khali custom.

2. Christopher Luke

Christopher Luke has pretty much gone in a totally different direction with Red Thread of Fate! He has implanted his classic skeletal style onto the Khali sculpt in an effective way. There is a minimalistic, crisp, and bold look to the figure with the limited colors and Luke’s staple art style. This all comes together to produce a well inspired and cool looking custom.

3. Zero Productivity

Zero Productivity has gone for a raccoon-like appearance for the Khali with an undeniable expression of mischief! The color tones are a lot softer and lightly painted for a more downplayed look. The cheeky facial expression really pulls the custom together, who knows what this Khali will do next!

4. Elena Kazi

Elena Kazi has stuck with a feline theme to create Khali the Tiger. The markings are bold and detailed, complete with big anime eyes and… sneakers? Kazi notes that Khali the Tiger has a fascination with sneakers and cassette tapes! These add a great touch of Kazi’s hip-hop inspired art style.

5. Ken Keirns Art

Ken Keirns has taken his sculpt in a completely different direction! The design is centred around a witch on a broomstick with the Khali tails acting more as a cloak. However, a closer inspection shows the menacing cat faces! The details across the entire Khali are richly detailed from the face to the broom. This custom is completely outside of the box and plays well into Keirns’ human-centred art style.

6. Ciou Art

Ciou Art‘s Khali is incredibly detailed right down to the finest of features. When you consider her other work, you can truly see the similarities between the custom and her artwork. The Khali features a bold selection of colors which come together beautifully. The more you look at this custom, the more details you notice!

7. Jessica Emmett

Jessica Emmett has brilliantly pulled off the fox appearance for Tales of Experience & Wisdom! The attention to detail is remarkable as you can see the individual strokes for the Khali‘s fur. Combined with Emmett’s iconic pastel and cute color scheme, her custom has a great touch of realism and positivity!

8. Mumbot

Mumbot‘s Into The Rainforest comes with an added friend! She did a fantastic job pulling of a dark toned Khali with brilliant vibrant colors and even including a matching Shumi! The bold eyes contrasting against the black and white fur make for a spell-bounding sculpt! Mumbot includes beautiful detailing on the fur.

9. Mr. Kumkum

Mr. Kumkum plays up the skeletal theme to make for an almost tribal looking Khali. The signature gold against black works great for the character and for Mr. Kumkum to make the sculpt his own. The details on the individual bones are so brilliantly done. When looking at these intricate details, you can really see how much care and time went into the design.

10. Mr. Mars Studios

Mr. Mars Studios‘ is taking things to new heights! KOLORFUL KHALI features glistening angelic wings and stunning icy bright colors. We love the way the pink, blue, purple and turquoise colors blend together. The neon splashes on the tails really pulls together Fluff Riot’s interest in subculture art as well as Mr Mars’ art style.

11. Kristy Kitsune

One of the minds behind Fluff Riot is not missing out either! Kristy Kitsune has designed two Khalis for the show. One certainly mirrors her more traditional style, with beautiful black autumnal trees and leaves decorating the sculpt. The falling leaves across the entire figure and base add a definite charm to the piece!

Kitsune’s other custom is taking flight! With a white sculpt and black wings, the piece has an almost mythological look to it. The graffiti rabbit is an excellent addition to the sculpt and definitely brings out the subculture art inspiration.

There are plenty more customs for the Khali Blurred Lines Show, so let’s meet the rest of the pack!

You may be wondering what actually inspired the Khali character. Fluff Riot created their own mythology based on vulpine lore that exists worldwide, with special inspiration taken from nine-tailed foxes who gain tails based on life experiences. Khali notably has three tails, so she has not reached her full potential yet!

Fluff Riot’s Blurred Lines Khali Show opens February 5 @ 7pm EST, in-person at the Strangecat Gallery at 501 S. Falkenburg Rd, Tampa, Florida.

Any remaining Blurred Lines Khali customs will be put online for purchase at 10pm EST on the Strangecat web shop.
